About Us
Two cultures. One sushi bar.
California Sushi Bar has been a family business from day one. When we opened on Third Avenue in 2001, we weren’t trying to be the most authentic Japanese restaurant in San Diego. We were trying to be the most honest one in Chula Vista.
That means Japanese technique, clean cuts, tight rolls, fresh fish, fused with the bold flavors we grew up eating on the border. Jalapeño. Cilantro. Spicy crab. Avocado. You’ll find them in rolls named after the neighborhoods we call home the Chula Vista, the Eastlake, the Bonita, the Taco Mexicano.
AS SEEN IN CHULA VISTA
Locals have been talking about us for years
We don’t need to tell you how good the sushi is. The community has been doing that for us since we first opened on 3rd Avenue.

What They Say About Us

Service was great

Super friendly servers.
It's nice to sit outside
You have to try the Indy roll. So unique and amazing

We ordered edamame to start, and they give you A LOT, and it's in a deep dish plate so all the sauce is there for you to redip some edamame if want.
For rolls, we got the Anaheim -- this was alright, classic roll to balance out the Taco Mexicano which was such a fun surprise! Honestly, you should go to try this roll, they NAILED the taste, my brain did not know it was eating sushi because it tasted like a taco but the best of both worlds!!
We also got salmon nigiri to test out their fish and rice, and the fish was nice and fresh but their rice wasn't seasoned enough, rice was a bit hard.
Overall will come back, to try a few rolls!
